There are so many different types of skin care products out there that it's hard to know what order to use them in. There are so many different types of products out there that it's hard to know what order to use them in.
For this article, we asked beauty skin researcher Yumi Sugimoto to tell us about her own skincare routine and tips on how to approach your skin more efficiently.
STEP1: "Toner" to replenish and regulate the lack of moisture
Some brands may have a specific item to be used before toner, but in general, after cleansing, the basic procedure is to use toner to replenish the missing moisture and adjust the skin.
There are many ways to apply lotion, such as using a cotton ball or the palm of your hand. My recommendation is to put the lotion on the palm of your hand, blend it in, and then wrap both hands around the lotion and press with your hands. By blending the lotion into the palms of your hands and using your body heat, you can expect the lotion to reach the keratinized skin layer efficiently.
And don't forget to moisturize your face with lotion as soon as possible after cleansing. Remember that the longer you wait between cleansing and moisturizing, the drier your skin will become.
STEP2: "Serum" to provide missing nutrients
Once you have prepared your skin with lotion, the next step is to use a serum to give your skin the nutrition it lacks.
It is recommended that you select a serum that contains the ingredients necessary to achieve the ideal skin you are aiming for. For example, if you are worried about blemishes, you can choose a whitening serum, and if you are worried about wrinkles and sagging skin, you can choose an anti-aging serum.
When applying a serum, it is recommended to press the serum into the skin by hand so that the necessary nutrients can reach the skin. However, avoid rubbing it in, which may irritate your skin.
STEP3: Emulsion and cream to lock in moisture and nutrients and prevent them from escaping.
After moisturizing your skin with lotion and nourishing it with serum, it's time to finish your skincare routine.
The finishing touch of skincare is to lock in the moisture and nutrients you've given your skin and cover it so that they don't escape. The finishing touches are emulsions and creams that contain oil.
The difference between a milky lotion and a cream is the ratio of water and oil in them. Emulsions contain more water, while creams contain more oil. Depending on the condition of your skin, it is recommended to use milky lotion as a finishing touch before makeup and cream for night care.
If you are concerned about dryness of your skin, we recommend double use of the cream after using the emulsion. Your dry skin will stay moist until the next morning.
