In this season when we start to feel the heat in earnest, many of us may start to put more effort into preventing sunburn.
Sunburn is said to be a cause of skin aging, so it is important to take thorough measures to achieve beautiful skin. Sunscreen is a must-have item to prevent sunburn, but if you don't apply it correctly, the effect may be reduced by half.
This time, we asked makeup artist Aya Ogasawara to tell us about the proper way to apply and remove sunscreen.
How to apply sunscreen properly
The first thing to keep in mind when applying sunscreen is to make sure that you apply the right amount all over your face.
Sometimes people try too hard to spread it out and end up applying less than the amount recommended by the manufacturer. However, when applying sunscreen, it is useless if it is not blocking the skin from UV rays. If you don't apply enough, you may end up with an uneven application.
Let's take a look at the recommended way to apply sunscreen to avoid unevenness.
- Take a small amount of sunscreen and apply it to your cheeks, forehead, nose and chin.
- Spread it gently from inside to outside.
Gently apply from inside to outside.
- Apply to hairline, front and back of ears, and face line.
- Take a small amount of sunscreen and apply it to your neck from bottom to top.
Take a small amount of sunscreen and apply it from the bottom to the top of your neck. (Applying from the bottom to the top will help prevent uneven application by getting into the wrinkles of your neck.
It is recommended to repeat this process once or twice. It is especially important to remember to apply it not only to your face, but also around your neck, ears, hairline, and face line.
Also, some people spread the product on both hands first, but this is a waste of time because the product is absorbed by the palms of the hands, and it may not spread properly, resulting in uneven application.
If you want to use a natural foundation, you can spread it on both hands, but for sunscreen, spread it on your face first.
How to remove sunscreen
Not only is it important to apply sunscreen, but it is also important to remove it.
Sunscreens today can be removed with soap or with cleansing oil. If the sunscreen is not removed properly and remains on the skin, it can lead to clogged pores, so be careful. Water-proof sunscreens in particular tend to be difficult to remove even with cleansing, as they are difficult to remove with sweat or water during the day.
Regardless of the type of sunscreen, check whether it can be removed with soap alone or whether cleansing is necessary, and make sure to remove it thoroughly so that no sunscreen remains on the skin.
Also, when removing it, do not scrub, but gently cleanse, and do not forget the neck, hairline, ear area, and face line.
UV rays can be a major enemy of beautiful skin. Make sure to apply sunscreen correctly and remove it properly to prevent your skin from being affected by UV rays.
